I am sure you are thinking, "Uh, Jodelene you are a bit late on this!”. No, actually I don’t see it that way. Since the start to my year was so shitty, I figured that it would ‘officially’ start my new year once I got a new job, received full pay checks and a renewed faith in the world. Only then could I start on a fresh new path of happiness.
So I declare March 2011, as the start to *my* new year! Since I had an enormous amount of time to think (the benefits of not working), I have quite the list of accomplishments for the remainder of the year. So this is what I’ll be focusing on for the next 8 months:
- Spending quality time with Mason by ensuring we are getting lots of fresh air and playtime. Continuing to complete his giant list of things to do before he turns 3
- Eradicate the insomnia that’s been plaguing me. No more bed times past 10:30pm!
- Eat…healthy. I have survived on nothing more than ‘pity treats’ that I normally don’t eat or the remainder of Mason’s lunches & dinners that he refused to consume
- Eating healthy means going back on the insane ‘meal plan’ that I started when I was doing the makeover. Including drinking the 1.5 litres of water
- Exercising. This means adding a purchase of a Wii Fit so I can do said exercises on a regular (3x a week) basis. Since I’m pretty happy that the 10lbs I lost since October stayed away (despite eating crap for the past 2 months), I think another 10lbs would probably put me at a super slim weight and that should do it. Again, I’m happy with the weight I’m at now so if I don’t reach this ‘semi goal’…that’s okay! The focus is on health, not perfection
- Go to yoga (I bought a Passport to Prana card that I haven’t used once!)
- Debt. Calculate how much unemployment affected my debt reduction and make a plan to pay it off in a reasonable time period
- Back to budgeting! A full paycheck = buckets! Including an emergency bucket (soooo required now!). A few other buckets (for the future) would include an ICBC bucket so I can save for my yearly insurance and a SUV bucket that would allow me to save up for a new vehicle. The Corolla is only going to sustain me for a few more years before I’ll need extra room
- Now that I have a job, I’d like to increase my salary by at least 10% by 2012 and another 10% by 2013 to reach what I believe is a salary that I can live super comfy by my frugal standards
- Complete my to-do list now that I’ve returned to work. This includes a war memorial for my grandparents, fill the large photo frame with adorable pics of my adorable child and sell some stuff on craigslist
- Get laser eye surgery by the end of 2011 or 2012…depending on timing & extra funds
- Take a first aid course for toddlers. One of my largest fears is Mason choking on *anything* and me being helpless
- Try meditation to keep me grounded and able to cope with stress better
- Start composting! Dad is to build me a vermicomposter (worms!) so I can stop throwing wasted food into the garbage
- Stop being so damn messy! I don’t have a dishwasher and am notorious for letting 3 days’ worth of dishes stack up. Gross, I know but I despise doing dishes!
- Make new friends. Considering I’ve practically hibernated in my fancy dungeon, it’s time to go outside and talk to other humans
- Actually make the emergency kit for my car & home I’ve been thinking about doing for oh…forever. You never know when a disaster is going to hit and being one of the most organized people I know, *should* have a kit!
